Privacy Policy

Aegle is a break reminder for macOS made by Kubilo LLC. This policy covers the Aegle app.

The short version

Aegle does not collect, transmit or share any information about you. It makes no network connections at all. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code in the app. Everything Aegle records stays on your Mac, and we have no way to see it.

What Aegle stores on your Mac

• Your settings: break intervals and durations, language, and whether breaks are held back while an app is full screen.
• Daily totals: time worked, time rested, and how many breaks you took, skipped or snoozed each day. These feed the statistics in the menu and the Statistics window. Days older than ten years are removed automatically.
• A break log: a timestamped line each time a break comes due, starts, is completed, skipped or snoozed, or you return after being away, with the durations involved.

All of it lives inside the app's sandbox container on your Mac, at ~/Library/Containers/com.kubilo.aegle. It is not synced, uploaded or backed up by Aegle.

How Aegle knows you are at the computer

To count working time and to tell whether you have stepped away, Aegle asks macOS how many seconds have passed since the last keyboard, mouse or scroll input. The answer is a number of seconds and nothing more. Aegle cannot see what you type or click, which apps you use or what is on your screen, and it does not ask for Accessibility, Input Monitoring or Screen Recording permission.

To avoid interrupting a full-screen app, Aegle checks whether the menu bar is currently covered. It does not know which app is covering it.

Deleting your data

Delete Aegle from your Applications folder, then delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.kubilo.aegle. Nothing else exists anywhere, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

The App Store

Aegle is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple handles downloads and any purchases under its own privacy policy, and we never receive your name, Apple Account or payment details. Apple gives us aggregate download and sales figures and, if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in System Settings, aggregated usage and crash reports. None of it identifies you.

If you contact us

When you email us we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to answer you.

Children

Aegle does not collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Aegle handles data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
